The End

Within Dividia ~Relapse Records

By Carina

Out on Relapse Records, The End’s 'Within Dividia', employs a film noir atmosphere set to music, with the album musically and lyrically narrating the conceptual tale of The Dividia Estate and its inhabitants. Intelligent, sophisticated, technical, dynamic and intense are but a few adjectives used to describe this full length.

“These Walls” is the perfect way to set the tone for the album, as it opens with a cluster-fuck of chaos, but then also takes the time to show that The End is not afraid to take moody, expansive breaks. Clearly, there is a high level of musicianship implicit in the performance of such complexly written songs. The End possess a mastery of these necessary skills, and the music on Within Dividia is chaotic, but somehow coherent as well, as music of this ilk ought to be. *****
